Dharwad, Nov. 2 -- Karnataka Labour Minister Santosh Lad today said that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks on banning the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) were made based on his vast political experience and understanding of the organization.

Responding to the demand raised by the Congress and the Samajwadi Party to ban the RSS, Lad said that even India's first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, had banned the RSS three times in the past.

"The RSS is an unregistered organization. Therefore, Kharge has made that statement based on his long experience and knowledge," Lad said while addressing reporters in Dharwad.
