Beed, Nov. 14 -- The special court in Beed has dismissed the discharge petitions filed by four accused in the December 2024 Massajog village sarpanch murder case, observing that there is adequate prima facie evidence to proceed with the trial.

In an order issued on November 11, Judge VH Patwadkar noted that the accused appeared to be part of an organised crime syndicate engaged in continuing unlawful activities, warranting prosecution under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

The case relates to the abduction and killing of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh on December 9, 2024, allegedly committed when he attempted to intervene in an extortion attempt targeting Avaada Energy Private Limited.
