Hyderabad, Jan. 15 -- Sankranti, the harvest festival, was celebrated across Telangana on Thursday with religious fervour and vibrant festive enthusiasm.
The celebrations were preceded by Bhogi on Wednesday, when people offered special prayers and lit bonfires to mark the occasion. Hindu households performed special poojas and prepared a variety of traditional delicacies as part of the festivities.
Adding colour to the festival spirit, children and youth participated enthusiastically in kite flying across several parts of the State.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Tourism Department is organising a three-day International Kite and Sweet Festival at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad from January 13, drawing large crowds.
