Mumbai, Dec. 16 -- : Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday accused the government and the Election Commission of selectively enforcing the model code of conduct (MCC), claiming it is being applied only against Marathi people and opposition parties.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday Raut said posters put up in Mumbai over the past few days to "save Mumbai" and "assert Marathi identity" were removed out of fear by the government, citing violation of the model code of conduct.
"Does the MCC apply only to Marathi people and the opposition? What about the government's own people?" he questioned.
