Puri, June 4 -- On the occasion of World Environment Day, sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a 30-foot-long, fish-shaped sand sculpture with an installation of 1,000 plastic bottles titled "Art against plastic" at Puri Beach.
With the message "Beat Plastic Pollution," the sand sculpture vividly illustrates the harmful effects of plastic pollution, highlighting how single-use plastics often end up polluting our oceans, rivers, and landscapes, thereby threatening both wildlife and human life.
The sand artist has used about 6 tons of sand and 1,000 plastic bottles in the sculpture. Students from his sand art institute joined hands with him to complete the piece.
