Lucknow, Dec. 19 -- : Members of the Samajwadi Party (SP) staged a boycott of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council on Friday, alleging a sharp decline in the state's basic education system under the BJP government and expressing dissatisfaction with the government's response.

Raising a notice on the deteriorating condition of basic education, SP leaders including Lal Bihari Yadav, Rajendra Chaudhary, Dr Man Singh Yadav, MLC Mukul Yadav, Ashutosh Sinha and Balram Yadav participated in the discussion.
