Srinagar, Sept. 16 -- People's Conference chairman and MLA Sajad Lone today launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing him of indifference to the massive losses suffered by Kashmir's apple industry due to the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway.
"It takes hundreds of crores of losses in terms of rotting apples to wake up a wandering CM to actually issue a statement. The apple industry is the backbone of the Kashmiri economy. An economy already reeling under the impact of tourism losses has now been saddled with horticulture losses," Lone said in a post on X.
He said mere expression of concern from the ruling establishment was a "luxury" when the horticulture sector was facing devastation.
