Karachi, Jan. 26 -- Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that young opener Saim Ayub will miss out on a place in Pakistan's squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, after suffering an ankle injury during the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town earlier this month.
Saim, who is currently receiving treatment in London, was initially given six weeks for recovery. The PCB, keen to safeguard his long-term future, had delayed the squad announcement, awaiting confirmation of his availability.
Naqvi emphasised that the board would not take any risks regarding Ayub's health and would prioritise his full recovery over participation in the tournament.
