Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 31 -- The Girls' Team of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), National Centre of Excellence (NCOE), Alleppey, clinched their third straight title at the Nehru Trophy Boat Race, 2025, held at Punnamada Lake in Alappuzha.
The team, which had earlier won in 2023 and 2024, scripted a rare hat-trick in the history of the prestigious water festival, reaffirming their supremacy in women's events of the traditional Vallamkali.
This year's race witnessed spirited competition and massive public participation. The SAI NCOE girls' victory also gained wide social media attention, with the captain's celebratory act, inspired by the viral "Indonesia boat boy" gesture, becoming a talking point.
