Ranchi, April 27 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu on Monday supported the Nari Shakti Vandan Act and accused opposition parties of spreading confusion over the legislation.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office, Sahu alleged that opposition parties, including the Congress and INDIA bloc, opposed the measure in Parliament despite it aiming to enhance women's participation in governance.

She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stated that ensuring representation and rights for women was their rightful entitlement and not a favour.
