Vladivostok, Sept. 19 -- Two nuclear-powered submarines of Russia's Pacific Fleet have successfully launched cruise missiles during naval exercises in the Sea of Okhotsk, the fleet said Friday.

The multi-purpose submarines Krasnoyarsk and Omsk fired Oniks and Granit cruise missiles at a designated sea target located more than 250 kilometers away, the fleet's press service said in a statement.

The monitoring data showed that all three missiles hit the target directly. Surface ships and naval aviation units of the Pacific Fleet were deployed to secure the test area during the launches.
