Moscow, Oct. 23 -- Russia remains open to political and diplomatic solutions in the field of arms control, despite its ever-growing tensions with the US and its allies in the NATO and the EU, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Wednesday.

"The clearest example is our withdrawal from the moratorium on deploying intermediate- and shorter-range ground-based missiles, given the ongoing US and Western efforts to position similar weapons in Europe and the Asia-Pacific," Ryabkov said at a meeting on the fundamentals of Russia's nuclear non-proliferation policy, reports state media.
