Moscow, May 21 -- Russia is open to contacts with the United States to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest through the Russian Security Council, Deputy Secretary of Russia's Security Council Alexander Venediktov said in an interview with Sputnik.

Until 2022, a regular dialogue between Moscow and Washington was maintained through the Security Council of Russia, the official said, adding that it was conducted on the entire spectrum of issues of mutual interest - from strategic stability to regional issues, including Syria and Afghanistan.

"We are open to such contacts in the future," Venediktov said.
