Kazan, May 16 -- Russia expects to sign a number of cooperation documents with Afghanistan at the Russia-Afghanistan business forum being held in the city of Kazan, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said on Friday.

"Following the event, we expect to sign a number of documents today," the official said at the forum.

The elevation of the Afghan diplomatic mission in Russia to the ambassador level paves the way for full-fledged economic cooperation between Russia and Afghanistan, Overchuk said.
