Moscow, Dec. 19 -- Expressing concern over the intensification of tensions between the US and Venezuela, Russia has cautioned that such military escalation is not without consequences and could lead to "unforeseen developments," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

Moscow's rather ominous warning comes amid the unprecedented US military buildup in the Caribbean by President Donald Trump, in order to combat alleged drug smuggling from Caracas, and exert pressure on the Latin American nation to curb its drug trafficking operations.

Caracas, has denied trafficking any drugs into Washington, and called the whole move a pressure tactic to force the reigning President Nicolas Maduro to resign, given his hostility to the US, closene...
