Moscow, June 20 -- Russia refuses to support any talk of a possible regime change in Iran, calling assassination attempts on Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei "unacceptable," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with Sky News.

"It's unimaginable, and it should be unacceptable. Even talking about that should be unacceptable for everyone."

"The situation is extremely tense and is dangerous not only for the region but globally," adding that any additional participants would only escalate tensions further, in a veiled reference to Washington's prospects of providing direct military aid to Israel.
