Ranchi, Feb. 27 -- The Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on Friday approved the grant demand of the Rural Development Department amounting to over Rs 123.46 billion during the ongoing Budget Session.

The demand for grants was passed by voice vote after post-lunch deliberations in the House.

Replying to the discussion, Rural Development Minister Deepika Pandey Singh highlighted the department's achievements. She assured members that funds under the MLA Local Area Development Scheme would soon be released to legislators for development works.

She said all works in the state would be executed in accordance with Public Works Department norms and court guidelines, adding that no compromise would be made on quality.
