Mumbai, June 11 -- Continuing it upward trend for the third consecutive session, the rupee on Wednesday appreciated by 9 paise to close at 85.51 against the US dollar, aided by foreign fund inflows and easing global crude prices, traders said.

The rupee opened 9 paise up on Wednesday at 85.51 against the US dollar. On Tuesday, the Indian rupee closed at 85.60 after the US and China agreed to a preliminary plan to ease trade tensions.

The partially convertible rupee recorded intra-day high and low at 85.45 and 85.53 respectively, dealers said.
