Mumbai, June 16 -- The rupee on Monday appreciated by 2 paise to close at 86.06 against the US dollar amid a strong show at the domestic equity markets, a weakening dollar, and easing of global crude oil prices, traders said.

However, decline in exports, along with foreign fund outflows, capped further gains in the local unit, traders added.

The rupee had plummeted 48 paise to 86.08 against the US dollar on Friday.

The partially convertible rupee recorded an intra-day high and low at 85.93 and 86.24 respectively, dealers added.
