Mumbai, June 20 -- The rupee on Friday appreciated by 10 paise at 86.62 in the opening session on weak dollar demand by bankers and importers after crude oil prices eased, forex traders said.

The currency opened 9 paise higher at 86.63 against the dollar. It closed the previous session at 86.72.

The partially convertible rupee recorded intra-day highs and lows at 86.60 and 86.56, respectively, dealers added.
