Mumbai, June 26 -- The Rupee today appreciated by 15 paise to 85.90 in the opening session, on weak dollar demand from bankers and importers, amid easing West Asian tension.

A positive opening in the domestic equity markets also helped the rupee to gain, traders added.

The currency opened 15 paise higher at 85.92 against the dollar. It closed the previous session at 86.07.

The partially convertible rupee recorded intra-day highs and lows at 85.87 and 85.93, respectively, dealers added.
