Mumbai, May 5 -- The rupee on Monday surged by 28 paise to close positive at 84.25 against US Dollar on brisk selling of the greenback by foreign banks and importers, dealers at the Forex Market said.
The local unit moved up by eight paise to 84.45 in opening session and oscillated in a wide range during the day, as it registered intra-day high of 84.10 and low of 84.47. Finally, it ended at 84.25, gaining by 28 paise as compared to its previous close.
The domestic unit bounced back due to sharp declining oil prices and strong close of equity market.
