New Delhi, May 5 -- The Indian Rupee extended its losing streak on Tuesday, breaching the 95-per-US-dollar mark and touching a record low, weighed down by global uncertainties and a strengthening US currency.
The domestic unit hit an all-time low of 95.29 against the US dollar during the day. By 15:32 IST, it was trading at 95.229, down marginally by 0.09 per cent. The rupee had opened weaker at 95.334, continuing its decline from the previous session.
Market participants attributed the depreciation to multiple global factors, including the renewed tensions between Iran and the US over the Strait of Hormuz including disruptions in the supply lines and fragile ceasefire and sustained strength in the US dollar.
