Mumbai, June 18 -- The rupee on Wednesday depreciated further by 24 paise to close at 86.48, a two-month low against the US dollar on a strong dollar demand by bankers and importers, as crude prices rose amid rising geopolitical tension in the Middle East.

The currency opened 13 paise lower at 86.37 against the dollar. It closed the previous session at 86.24

The partially convertible rupee recorded intra-day high and low at 86.26 and 86.56 respectively, dealers added.
