Mumbai, June 19 -- The rupee on Thursday depreciated further by 7 paise at 86.55 in the opening session on strong dollar demand by bankers and importers, amid looming global geopolitical and tariff uncertainties, traders said.
The currency opened 5 paise lower at 86.53 against the dollar. It closed the previous session at 86.48.
The partially convertible rupee recorded intra-day highs and lows at 86.57 and 86.48, respectively, dealers added.
