Mumbai, May 27 -- The Rupee on Tuesday slipped 23 paise to close at 85.39 on rising demand for US Dollar from foreign banks, dealers at the Forex Market.

The domestic unit opened weak at 85.29, easing 13 paise. It remained negative, till the end of the session, and it was further dropped by 23 paise to finish at 85.39 as compared to its previous close.

Rising demand for the US Dollar and declining stock market kept the currency down, a dealer informed.

The Rupee recorded day's high and low at 85.22 and 85.42 respectively, the dealer added.
