Mumbai, June 23 -- Rupee on Monday depreciated by 16 paise to close at 86. 75 against
the US dollar, on Strong dollar demand by bankers and importers as global crude oil prices
surged following the US's attack on Iran's nuclear sites, forex trader said
However, an increase in FII inflows and a rise in the country's forex reserves prevented further losses in the local currency, they said.
The currency opened 16 paise lower at 86.75 against the dollar. It closed the previous session at 86.59
The partially convertible rupee recorded intra-day high and low at 86.66 and 86.86 respectively, dealers added.
