Chennai, Feb. 8 -- In a one-horse race, the ruling DMK candidate
V C Chandrakumar is all set to win the Erode East Assembly constituency
seat by a record margin, as the counting of votes polled in the February 5
by-elections, continued on Saturday.
As per the latest reports, Mr Chandrakumar has secured more than 50 per
cent of the votes polled and was leading by more than 70,000 votes over
his only rival Ms M K Seethalakshmi of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK).
After 13th round of counting, which began at 0800 hrs amid tight security,
Chandrakumar polled 89,931 votes as against 19,078 by Ms Seethalakshmi.
With four more rounds of counting remaining, the NTK candidate needed
a further 6,700 votes to retain her deposit, reports received he...
