Shimla, April 1 -- The Himachal Pradesh Assembly witnessed uproar on Wednesday as Opposition BJP members demanded an adjournment motion under Rule 67 over the government's notification empowering deputy commissioners to decide the 5 per cent reservation roster for gram panchayats, panchayat samitis and zila parishads and other local bodies.

As the House assembled for question hour, speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania informed members that BJP MLA Randhir Sharma had raised the issue. However, the Speaker ruled that the matter lacked urgency to suspend normal business and should be taken up after question hour.
