Hyderabad, Feb. 17 -- The Right to Information (RTI) Act is the lifeline of a democratic system, former Chairman of the Telangana State BC Commission Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan Rao said on Tuesday.

Addressing the first anniversary programme of the RTI Rakshak Human Rights Society at the Bharat Nagar Community Hall in Bagh Amberpet, Rao said the RTI Act plays a crucial role in ensuring transparent, accountable and corruption-free governance.

He observed that administrative accountability increases when citizens actively exercise their constitutional right to seek information.
