Bhubaneswar, Dec. 11 -- The New Plate Mill (NPM) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has successfully implemented a pioneering, fully mechanized cleaning system to clear a completely blocked scale channel during the recently concluded capital repair shutdown.
The scale channel-critical for removing scale and burrs generated in the rolling process-had become severely obstructed due to prolonged accumulation.
This long-standing issue had caused flooding in the Hydraulic Automatic Gauge Control (HAGC) cellar, leading to unplanned mill stoppages, risks to sensitive equipment, and safety hazards for operating personnel.
