New Delhi, Oct. 7 -- In a significant relief measure for flood and landslide-affected farmers of Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre today released in advance Rs 171 crore as installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.

The amount was directly transferred to the bank accounts of 8.55 lakh farmers, including over 85,000 women farmers, providing immediate financial support in these trying times, said a statement from the union Agriculture Ministry.

Highlighting the ongoing support, union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that since the inception of PM-KISAN, farmers in Jammu & Kashmir have cumulatively received over Rs 4,052 crore under the scheme. "This advance installment aims to assist farmers in meetin...
