New Delhi, Nov. 18 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the Rajya Sabha was a supportive, not "secondary House" of Parliament.

Addressing the historic 250th session of the Rajya Sabha, he heaped praise on the Upper House of Parliament, saying that it was the second House and not the secondary House. "In fact, it should remain the supportive House," he said.

Stating that it was a moment of pride for democracy, Mr Modi congratulated all the Members of Parliament for the historic session of Rajya Sabha, adding "The 250th session itself is not just time but a journey."

"Everyone thought the Triple Talaq Bill will get stuck in the Rajya Sabha but it is maturity of this House that passed this significant Bill and made it into a law....
