Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 18 -- The Kerala Tourism Department has granted administrative sanction for Rs. 99,94,110 for the beautification of the Varkala Maidan underpass, known as the gateway to Varkala, a major travel destination in the Thiruvananthapuram district.

This initiative is part of a broader state project focused on improving the look and functionality of various underpasses and public spaces, by installing recreational facilities, and adhering to the government's design policy.

The Public Works Department will oversee the construction of this project, which is expected to be completed within a six-month timeline.
