Hamirpur, July 23 -- In a major corruption scam, Rs nine lakh designated for the welfare of poor workers has been siphoned off through fake registrations by 38 individuals from affluent families, Nardev Kumar, chairman of the State Labour Welfare Board, revealed during a press conference at the State Secretariat.

Kanwar informed that the fraud were uncovered in Barsar, Bhoranj, Hamirpur and Sujanpur areas of Hamirpur district. Of the 38 fake registrations, 12 people had illegally availed benefits such as maternity leave and house construction assistance.
