Chennai, Oct. 29 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has flagged corruption totalling Rs 888 crore in the recruitment of 2,538 officers and staff for the Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department (MAWS). The massive 'cash-for-job' scam has handed the opposition a major election issue ahead of the 2026 assembly polls.

The ED has urged the State Police to register a case so that it can proceed in the matter, considering the gravity of the offence.
