Kozhikode, Feb. 17 -- Kerala Devaswom minister V N Vasavan has handed over financial assistance of Rs five lakh each to the kin of three people, who were killed during a temple festival at Manakulangara temple at Kuruvangahad near Koyilandy on February 13, on Monday.

Guruvayoor Devaswom provided Rs three lakh and Malabar devaswom Board provides two lakh each to all the three victims in this incident.

Two elephants Peethambran and Gokul of Guruvayoor Devaswom Board ran amok, after Peethambran attacked Gokul tusker and both of them went berserk and ran inside the temple, that led to three people getting kiled and 36 others sustaining injuries, eight of them seriously following the collapsed temple office building and stampede.
