New Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug. 18 -- Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar today revealed that Rs 5,489 crore has so far been recovered from cyber fraudsters, as part of the Centre's intensified drive against online crimes.

Reviewing the activities of the Cyber and Information Security Division (CIS) at North Block, the Minister directed officials to simplify refund procedures so that victims can quickly receive their money, an official statement said.

He stressed the importance of effectively deploying cyber commandos in priority cases and highlighted the role of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) as the nodal hub for coordination between the Centre and states in tackling cybercrime.
