Agartala, Oct. 17 -- In a significant anti-narcotics crackdown with political ramifications, police confiscated an entire railway car filled with Eskuf cough syrup valued at Rs 2 Cr late last night at Jirania station near the Tripura capital.

Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement agencies carried out a raid and uncovered cartons of Eskuf syrup neatly arranged within the freight carriage. The process of unloading the seized narcotics continued well into the early hours today.

The 100 ml cartons each contained Codeine Phosphate used as a cough suppressant and pain reliever. The contraband was found in two goods train wagons. Police recieved information that this sizable shipment may be linked to a well-known nationalist political figure from...
