New Delhi, Dec. 12 -- Congress spokesperson and Chairman of the party's Media and Publicity department Pawan Khera has been served with a defamation notice of Rs 100 crore for a post on X released early Friday.

The notice was served by Chairman of The Statesman Ltd and a Director of UNI R P Gupta, after Khera in a tweet insinuated that someone in "the highest office" had helped Gupta acquire a media company.

In a strongly worded notice the lawyers for Gupta, termed the X post as "bare faced lies dressed up as innuendo" and stated that Khera had defamed not just his client but the President of India for his narrow political ends.
