Mysuru, Oct. 4 -- A controversy erupted during the Mysuru Dasara celebrations over the presence of Social Welfare Minister HC Mahadevappa's grandson in an open jeep alongside Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and other cabinet colleagues.
The incident occurred yesterday just before the Vijayadashami procession at Mysuru Palace, prompting objections by the opposition BJP, which claimed a breach of protocol.
Responding to the criticism, Mahadevappa, who oversees Mysuru district, denied any violation. He said the movement of dignitaries from the Nandi flagpole to their seating enclosure inside the palace does not follow a formal protocol or require a salute.
