Rio De Janeiro, April 25 -- A second-half strike from Paraguayan winger Angel Romero fired
10-man Corinthians to a 1-0 home victory over Racing Montevideo in their Copa Sudamericana
group stage match.
The Brazilian side suffered a blow in the 15th minute when Felix Torres was shown a straight red card for an ugly challenge on Thiago Espinosa on Thursday.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, the hosts dominated possession and Romero broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute when he slotted home at the far post following a corner.
It was Corinthians' first victory of the campaign and left the Brazilian club with four points from three outings, three points behind group leader Huracan. Racing is last, having yet to register a point.
