Varanasi, Sept. 12 -- A Romanian student pursuing PhD in Indian Philosophy from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) died under suspicious circumstances in Garhvasi Tola area of Varanasi here, police said today.
Vaibhav Shukla, in charge of Brahmanal Chowki, said that late yesterday night, information was received that nobdy was responding to the door knocks of the house of foreign student Philip Francisca (27), who was living in a rented accommodation.
"Police reached the spot and somehow opened the lock of the room and entered, where the student was found dead. The cause of death is not yet clear," he said.
