Dimapur, Oct. 31 -- A brazen attempted armed robbery was thwarted at the State Bank of India Chedema branch, Kohima, today.
Kohima police PRO, in a release, said an unidentified male suspect, armed with a pistol and threatening the use of a body-worn explosive device, entered the bank and demanded money at around 12:30 pm.
"The swift and courageous intervention of the on-duty bank security guards prevented the robbery," police said.
The bank guards recovered the entire looted amount and seized the pistol from the miscreant.
However, despite their efforts, the suspect managed to escape from the scene, the release said.
