Kabul, May 24 -- Construction of a road has begun in the Alingar district of east Afghanistan's Laghman province, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported on Saturday.

According to the report, the 8-km-long project would cost 33 million afghani (more than 471,000 U.S. dollars) and is expected to be completed within two months.

The report added that the new road will improve transportation and facilitate the local agricultural products to the market.

The Afghan interim government plans to create job opportunities by launching development projects in different provinces.
