Kolkata, Oct. 8 -- union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who is on a two-day visit to the flood affected areas of Darjeeling and Mirik, called on the West Bengal government to urgently conduct disaster mapping in North Bengal to enable effective relief, rehabilitation, and long-term reconstruction after devastating floods and landslides swept through the region.
Rijiju, accompanied by Darjeeling MP Raju Bista and MLA Neeraj Zimba, visited the severely affected areas including Bijanbari, Thaneline, and Pulbazar, where torrential rains caused the collapse of the Chhota Rangeet bridge and washed away several roads.
