Chandigarh, July 24 -- : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab is facing internal discord over the question of reviving its alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

As state president Sunil Jakhar has pushed for rekindling ties with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for the 2027 Punjab Assembly polls but acting state president Ashwani Sharma has categorically ruled out any coalition.

Speaking during a recent trip to Bathinda, Sharma declared that the BJP is gearing up to contest all 117 assembly seats independently. He highlighted the party's solo run in the 2022 state elections and the recent Lok Sabha polls, signaling confidence in the BJP's growing support base in Punjab.
