Shillong, May 20 -- Rifiness Warjri, a 20-year-old NCC cadet, has made history by becoming the third woman from Meghalaya to conquer the 8,848 ft Mount Everest.

Warjri, a student of St. Anthony's College, Shillong, and cadet of 61 Meghalaya Girls Battalion NCC, reached the summit of Mount Everest at 4:45 AM on May 18, 2025.

She was the sole representative from the entire North Eastern Region to be selected for the 38-member Mount Everest expedition.
