Bhubaneswar, April 7 -- Amid growing dissent within the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) over the party's last-minute stand on the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha, senior party leaders have demanded a clarification from party supremo Naveen Patnaik.
Responding to the internal unrest, Patnaik on Monday assured that the BJD has always stood by minority communities and will continue to do so.
His statement came after BJD Rajya Sabha MP Munna Khan and his supporters met him at Naveen Niwas to express their discontent over the party's reported U-turn on the Waqf Amendment Bill, which has already been passed in both Houses of Parliament.
