New Delhi, Dec. 19 -- The Government of India has taken several steps to promote ease of doing business for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and create a conducive ecosystem for their growth and expansion, Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shobha Karandlaje, informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply.

The Minister said that the revised criteria for classification of MSMEs, first adopted in 2020, has been further updated with effect from April 1, 2025.

The revision aims to support upward mobility in technology, skilling and business growth, while encouraging the transformation and expansion of MSMEs.

To simplify registration and compliance, the Udyam Registration Portal was launched on July 1, 2020.
